Ship Construction

Overview

State-of-the-Art Shipbuilding Facility

Spanning over 250 acres, SDHI’s ship construction facilities at Pipavav are built to support the construction of some of the largest vessels in operation today. At the heart of this unmatched facility is India’s largest dry dock, designed to build large carriers such as VLCCs and ULCCs – placing the yard within a limited group of shipyards globally with such capability.

The construction area is supported by heavy-lift cranes, pre-erection zones, and quay berths for outfitting and commissioning, enabling a continuous build cycle from hull assembly to delivery. This integrated layout facilitates parallel activities which improves turnaround time and ensures better quality control and timely execution.

With infrastructure aligned to global shipbuilding standards, SDHI is equipped to undertake large, complex commercial and defence projects with consistency and reliability.
