Block Construction

overview

Integrated Block Fabrication Facility

SDHI’s block construction facility is the largest in India, purpose-built to produce hull blocks for large and complex vessels at scale. Spread across 340+ acres within a Special Economic Zone, the site brings together extensive covered fabrication areas, material handling systems, and a well-designed layout for efficient and uninterrupted production.

Within this site, steel is processed through a structured sequence – from cutting and forming to panel assembly and block integration – moving steadily towards fully assembled blocks. Our facility can fabricate a block up to a size of 350T. The covered infrastructure enables all-weather fabrication, ensuring consistency in quality and timelines.

With an annual steel fabrication throughput of 164,000 T – the highest in the country –  SDHI’s block construction site plays a critical role in expanding India’s modular and advanced shipbuilding capabilities.
