Offshore Fabrication
overview
Integrated Infrastructure for Heavy Engineering Projects
The offshore and heavy engineering sectors increasingly require fabrication ecosystems capable of handling large structures, efficient movement, and direct connectivity to global logistics networks. From offshore wind foundations and energy platforms to port cranes and industrial modules, project execution today depends on infrastructure that goes beyond fabrication alone.
SDHI’s Offshore Yard at Pipavav is designed to support the complete lifecycle of heavy engineering projects and is the first shipyard in India to offer an integrated F.A.S.T. (Fabrication, Assembly, Storage, and Transportation) ecosystem. The facility supports offshore EPC, oil & gas infrastructure, port equipment, marine structures, and offshore wind components through a layout optimised for heavy assemblies and direct load-out operations.
With a jetty draft of 10 metres, the yard enables seamless load-out of heavy platforms and oversized structures, helping reduce execution timelines and simplify movement from fabrication to final destination.
Advantages
Dedicated offshore yard of 750 m x 256 m for fabrication and direct load-out operations
The loadout capacity up to 10,000 T with ground bearing strength of 190 T/Sqm
SAW machine for unmatched speed, deep penetration, and high-quality welding for thick steel plates
Capability to support offshore wind, offshore energy, port, and industrial sectors
Suitable for heavy modules, cranes, marine structures, and process equipment
Connected to global shipping and logistics networks for project mobility
Recent Wins
Training Vessel Order from the Sultanate of Oman
SDHI has secured a contract from the Ministry of Defence of the Sultanate of Oman for the construction and delivery of a training vessel along with associated logistics support. The project marks a significant milestone in SDHI’s expanding defence shipbuilding capabilities and reinforces its growing presence in the international defence and naval export market.
The vessel is being constructed at SDHI’s integrated shipyard at Pipavav, leveraging the company’s large-scale infrastructure, modular construction capabilities, and seamless execution ecosystem. The order further strengthens SDHI’s position as an emerging partner for complex naval and maritime platforms in the region.
SDHI Secures India’s First Ammonia Dual-Fuel Bulk Carrier Order
SDHI has secured its first newbuild contract for six 18,000 DWT IMO Type II chemical tankers, valued at USD 227 million, marking one of India’s largest commercial shipbuilding deals and the country’s first chemical tanker order placed with an Indian shipyard.
The contract, awarded by European shipowner Rederiet Stenersen AS, includes an option for six additional vessels. The tankers will feature advanced LNG-ready hybrid propulsion systems and are scheduled for delivery starting within 33 months.
This milestone highlights SDHI’s capabilities in delivering complex, world-class vessels and reinforces India’s growing position in the global shipbuilding industry.
